Aspire Entrepreneur Initiative

Aspire Entrepreneur Initiative

Safer Foundation has a partnership with micro-lender Justine Petersen to provide entrepreneurial training and supportive services to Safer parents who express an interest and commitment in starting their own business.

The Aspire program was created through a partnership of the U.S. Small Business Administration, W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Justine Petersen and is targeted specifically to people with arrest or conviction records who also have children. Safer Foundation helps to connect these individuals to micro-loans and other financing that will allow them to start their own business venture.

“America remains a land of opportunity, a place where we believe in second chances for those who have paid their debt to society. Entrepreneurship can be a ladder of opportunity for citizens who have paid that debt, but are still struggling to find employment after incarceration.” - SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet.
