Foundation Helps People Get a Second Chance
Thomas Geyer of the Quad-City Times interviews Safer Foundation Quad Cities staff members prior to a trivia night fundraiser.
The Safer Foundation of the Quad-Cities is holding its third annual Trivia Night fundraiser June 25 at Knights of Columbus Hall in Davenport.
All proceeds benefit the Safer Foundation’s Youth Empowerment and Employment Services programs in the Quad-City area.
Sue Davison, program manager for the Safer Foundation, said the organization works on both sides of the Mississippi River to help young people overcome the stigma of having a criminal background and obtain an education and a career.
Many who approach the foundation for help have not had success in school, Davison said. Many have unstable home lives. Others are homeless and staying with various friends, while some are pregnant or already parents. Some have turned to gangs for inclusion.
