This Blunt's Not for You

Funded as part of the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Community Health and Prevention Substance Abuse Prevention Program (SAPP), This Blunt's Not for You allows clients to overcome habitual marijuana use in order to become viable candidates on the job market.

During Safer Foundation's orientation and intake process, clients can openly discuss their past or current issues with illegal substances. For clients who abuse marijuana and cannot pass an employer's drug test, the "This Blunt's Not for You" program provides an opportunity to confront their addictions.

Once a week, clients meet in a classroom setting to share their experiences and receive direction from a Safer Foundation facilitator on how to overcome their dependency issues. The environment allows open and honest discussion among clients about how they began using, why they started, how they have struggled to stop, and other frustrations. Clients offer support and encouragement for each other.
