Giving Tuesday is Dec. 1, 2015

Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 as a response to the commercialization and consumerism taking over the holiday period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We all love a good deal or better yet, a great deal! But sometimes that can make us lose focus on the real meaning of the season: Being thankful.

Our clients know a lot about gratitude. Andrew Garriott, for example, had very little job-search or employment experience and a strained relationship with his family, when he returned to his community in May 2014.

“I tried to find employment on my own. It was really hard because I didn’t have any interviewing skills,” says Andrew. “I didn’t have a resume because I hadn’t worked before. Safer’s job readiness class “gave me a lot of insight on what to do in an interview and what to say.”

Andrew took advantage of much Safer Foundation had to offer, including a tech training and our Strengthening Families program. Not only did he receive the training and skills needed to gain a job as a computer technician at a technology repair company, he also has improved his family relationships and parenting skills.

Celebrate the success of clients like Andrew, who got a second chance at becoming a productive and contributing member of society, by helping provide a second chance to others like him.
