Requirements

Small-group facilitators (SGF) are to help the participants to stay focused on the questions found on the seminar handouts. They work to create a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone to participate in the discussion. They demonstrate respect to quieter participants, yet always trying to encourage everyone’s participation. They rarely tell people what to do, or how to respond, but solicit others to give input.

Description of Tasks

Small group facilitators will: 

  • Ask discussion questions found on the seminar handouts, as directed by the Lead Instructor/Facilitator
  • Record or paraphrase the comments of the participants.
  • Ask good questions, and help participants to discover their own answers.
  • Appropriately praise and be the gate keepers of time during the session and bring order to the group.
  • Ocassionally address issues with participants that are not being respectful or considerate of others.
  • Serve as the servant leader of the small group.

Hours

Saturdays, most seminars are 5 units (2 hours each). The SGF volunteer should commit to attending an entire training seminar. This may be two seperate half days or one full day.
