A Trip to Harvard September 11, 2009 - Safer Foundation's President/CEO was on the move this week. B. Diane Williams accepted an invitation to participate in a meeting of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences Task Force on the "Challenges of Mass Incarceration in America." The group met Wednesday at Harvard University under the leadership of Bruce Western (Professor of Sociology and Director of the Multidisciplinary Program in Inequality and Social Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government) and Kaia Stern (Director of the Pathways Home Project at the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice at Harvard Law School). The focus is to determine how the task force might most effectively influence policy and the public conversation on the important topic of mass incarceration. Ms. Williams will also attend a book symposium for William Julius Wilson`s More than Just Race at the Center for Government and International Studies.
